Meet the staff of New Life Community Church
Pastor Jim has been married to his high school sweetheart, Angela, for the past 13 years. They have two amazing gifts, Jackson, who is 9, and Jovie, who is 7. He loves playing with his kids, dating his wife, being outdoors enjoying nature and playing sports. He also enjoys creating music. He grew up in West Michigan, graduating from Reeths-Puffer High School, earning his BA from Michigan State University in Education, and M. Divinity from Western Theological Seminary. Although growing up in the church, Jim wrestled with complete surrender until mid way through college. He came face to face with grace after questioning the faith he grew up with. While listening to Lifehouse's "Hanging by a Moment" he felt the nudge of the Spirit confronting his rebellion and calling him to the life Jesus died for. He answered by faith and continues to answer. God gave Jim a great passion for people, wanting to see them break the apathetic or routine approach of religion, and instead embrace the life of faith that Jesus calls us to in following Him. For Jim, this faith journey has led him out of teaching and into ministry. He has been a youth pastor, worship director, twenty and thirty-somethings pastor, and now serves as the lead pastor at New Life.
Like the rest of the staff, Ashleigh has grown up in West Michigan, graduating from Grand Haven High School. She's currently in her final stretch at Grand Valley where she is completing his student teaching semester in a high school world history classroom. It took a long time for Ashleigh to realize that her passion is with kids. However, she can't imagine doing anything different. She loves building relationships with the younger generation and showing God's love to them, whether it is by actions or words. When she isn't hanging out with kids or lesson planning, Ashleigh enjoys playing with her dog, reading, traveling, and catching up on historical dramas.
Meggan has been married to Jon for over 15 years and has been blessed with 2 amazing daughters, Jocelyn and Natalie. She enjoys shopping—especially with her mom or kids (when they are enjoying it!), spending time with her husband, watching CSI and sitting outside on warm, sunny days among other things. She has a passion for worshiping the one true God who redeemed her and strives to lead others to explore deeper personal worship experiences. Meggan will tell that she has made some poor choices throughout her life and has struggled like everyone else; however, she'll be the first to tell you that she is so thankful that God has continued to draw her closer to Him through it all.
